Mission

The mission of Amadeus University is to create a conducive environment for learning, functional and purposeful infrastructure, for the production of self-employable and productive graduates. We want to inspire students to explore their passions, develop critical thinking skills, and become lifelong learners. Our commitment to student success, scholarship and creative activity, as well as public service sets us apart.

Vision

Our vision is to produce globally competitive, morally sound and practically-oriented graduates that will positively impact on societal sustainable development. We envision a future where education is accessible to all, regardless of their background or circumstances. We believe that education has the power to change lives and create opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Amadeus University, Amizi was conceptualized by Dr. Godwin Nwabunka, who after a long career in the United Nations founded Grooming Centre, the institutional promoter of the University. Grooming Centre is a social enterprise established in 2006, with a mission to empower people especially at the base of the pyramid, by providing sustainable interventions in the areas of inclusive financial services, research, innovation and education, health and well-being, access to clean and renewable energy, food security, and environmental sustainability.

Dr. Nwabunka, a seasoned development economist and entrepreneur, recognized the value of investing in capacity building to contribute to the realization of Africa's demographic dividend, and thus envisioned an institution of higher learning that would be driven by excellence, innovation and high ethical standards. Following the commencement of the application process in 2019, and the constitution of a Planning and Implementation Committee in 2020 composed of eminent academics and industry experts led by Prof. Akaneren Idem Essien, that vision culminated in the approval of Amadeus University by the Federal Government of Nigeria and its licensing by the National Universities Commission in June 2023.

The crest of Amadeus University is a totem for our enduring commitment to knowledge and enlightenment, as well as homage to our history.

An Open Book: The open book symbolizes the infinite expanse of knowledge, perpetually unfolding and expanding. It represents our dedication to continuous learning, intellectual curiosity, and the pursuit of truth. Just as the pages of a book invite exploration and discovery, so too does our University encourage students to embark on a journey of lifelong learning and personal growth.

Light: The radiant flame is a beacon of illumination and enlightenment. It symbolizes the transformative power of education to dispel ignorance, overcome barriers, and inspire Promethean progress. Like a guiding light in the darkness, our University seeks to illuminate minds, ignite passions, and empower individuals to reach their full potential.

The Palm Tree: Rooted in history and tradition of Amizi, the palm tree is a timeless symbol of resilience, abundance, and sustenance. Its sturdy trunk and outstretched fronds provide shelter, nourishment, and protection to all who seek refuge beneath its branches. In the context of our crest, the palm tree serves as a poignant reminder of our commitment to sustainability and holistic well-being. Just as the palm tree sustains life in all its forms and through its many products, so too does our University strive to cultivate a supportive, nurturing environment where students can flourish and thrive.

Amadeus University derives its name from the Latin phrase “the Love of God”, and the name Amadeus is historically associated with genius and prodigy.
